New SD37 Website PDF Print E-mail

We've gone through another upgrade of the SD37 website.  Some significant server upgrades allowed us to make some changes (mostly behind the scenes) that we were really waiting for.  As long as the backend was improving, we also spruced up the front end as well.  And more is on it's way.

For you probably the biggest change is that there is no self-registration anymore.  Quite simply too many spammers and bots trying to slam the site and cause problems.  Logins will be distributed to those that request them.

Other than that, take a look around and let me know what you think in the poll to the right.

Upcoming Town Hall Meetings With State Legislators PDF Print E-mail

The MN House is holding a town hall meetings seeking commentary on the state budget. It is important that the Republican perspective is heard on this.

Here is the date and time information on the town hall meeting:

Wednesday, 2/25/09 - 7:30 pm
Fairview Ridges Hospital
201 E Nicollet Blvd

Saturday, 3/7/09
10:30 am to 12:00 pm
New Rosemount Library

Not only do we need people to show up to support our Republican legislators.  We also need people willing to stand up and ask questions to challenge the DFLers on why they think we can just tax our way out of this situation.

PCR Last Chance! PDF Print E-mail
Dear fellow Republicans,

I know that this close to the Holiday season and so shortly after a disappointing election, you don't want to deal with this right now, so I will be both brief and blunt. Democrats vastly outspent us, at all levels, in the last election. As Republicans we would like to believe that our good ideas overcome crass cash advantages, but it doesn't seem to work that way.  Not only the Democratic Party, but their many deep-pocketed interest groups -- unions and trial lawyers, George Soros and the Hollywood elite -- give them a tremendous advantage in fund-raising and thereby at winning elections and advancing their liberal agenda.

Republicans in Minnesota have only one advantage, and that is YOU -- the many faithful Republicans who take full advantage of the PCR program every year, providing us with the funds needed to promote and advance Republican ideas WITHOUT COSTING YOU A DIME!  This program allows you to donate $50 a year to a local political organization/candidate of your choice, and it will be refunded back to you by the state.  Upon receipt of your donation, we'll send you a receipt and the necessary form to receive your reimbursement.  You then mail that into the state and they reimburse the funds to you within a few weeks (or even days)!  This basically makes it a short term loan which helps us out a great deal!

You may choose to contribute via our secure website here.

Or you can write a check to "SD37 RPM" and send to:

We thank you for your support in the past, and hope for your continued support in the future, monetary or otherwise.  We hope this message finds you well and that you and your family have a pleasant holiday season.

Happy New Year! PDF Print E-mail

Let me get straight to the point. With the New Year comes another opportunity to take advantage of the Minnesota Political Contribution Refund program, to help your local Republicans advance your values and interests through the next election cycle. It is NOT too early to get started. All you have to do is to contribute $50, or $100 per couple, and in a few weeks you get your money back. It is basically a short-term loan and it helps us a great deal!

Jobs Are the Answer PDF Print E-mail
While Democrats continue to wait for the federal government, a group of House Republicans is providing leadership to help create jobs in Minnesota.  Representatives Kurt Zellers (Maple Grove) and Tara Mack (Apple Valley) introduced the, Emergency Jobs Stimulus Bill to help bring new jobs to the state of Minnesota and encourage current Minnesota companies to stay, expand and grow.

Under their proposal, a business coming to Minnesota and staying for 5 years, would be exempt from the 9.8 business tax rate.   Rep. Zellers and other members of the House Republican Caucus introduced the bill as an alternative to higher taxes and massive deficit spending from Washington, D.C.

DFL False Budget Claims PDF Print E-mail

When Democrats do choose to answer questions about why they have no plan of their own, their new talking point is that, unlike the governor, they don’t have the time or resources to develop a full proposal:

Kelliher notes that the governor had all of the state’s commissioners and finance experts working on the budget for months. The Legislature does not have those resources.

“He’s had 7½ months. It’s unrealistic to expect us to respond in just a few days,” she said.

While Democrats act surprised by the budget deficit, here is a timeline to consider:
