With the change of caucus dates, many of the usual caucus locations were already booked by school/community events. But we've found a venue that can host all of us. Check here for more information!
If you think your local, state and federal government is working efficiently and effectively, you don't need to attend your precinct caucus. However, I'm guessing most of you will want to be at :

If you think you perhaps should attend, here are some reasons for you :
- You keep democracy alive. We are fortunate that Minnesota is a caucus state. Your participation helps keep this form of "direct democracy" alive.
- Your voice gets heard. Local candidates come directly to you, looking for your "endorsement" to be a candidate. In primary-only states, the candidate that spends the most money on slick impersonal advertising usually wins.
- You have principles. You are probably a Republican because you believe in individual rights and freedoms, and certain other principles. Caucuses are where YOU get to help shape the party platform, by debate and voting on resolutions that you bring forward.
- You can get involved. Caucuses are where delegates to the District convention are elected, and from there you can be elected to the Congressional District and State Conventions. There you get to endorse State and National candidate, and vote again on changes to the standing platform. YOU get to select the candidates and shape the platform on which they will run.
- You can make a difference. Just your presence sends a message that there is a core of "activists" ready to work for your candidates, and you can volunteer to do that in as many or few ways as you choose. You don't need to commit tonight, but "opportunities" will present themselves from time to time. Every little bit helps.
- You help yourself. Some people think it doesn't matter who gets elected. This last legislative session there was a $5 Billion difference between what the DFL and the GOP proposed. That's $2500 for the average taxpaying household. Could your family use another $2500? Help get Republicans elected, and you help yourself!
That's just a few reasons why you should attend your local precinct caucuses. We'll see you there! |
